One of the biggest challenges of my M.A. journey has been -without a doubt- exercising my writing skills. I am the only non-native speaker in my class, but the fact that English is not my first language has not granted me any special treatment. I had asked to produce my assignments and academic paper following the same academic writing rigor. Additionally, writing (In Spanish) is what I do for living, thus I clearly understand the importance of words and narrative.
I have polished my writing skills as I have never imagined in my life. I had learned to develop writing skills in a language that is not my mother tongue. I discovered my ability to write in English and the experience had been extremely enjoyable. Producing my paper following the APA style has been challenged many times, but I discovered my own determination to fight the obstacles. Writing in English was the best way to prove myself that we are in a permanent stage of professional renovation.
One project that I remember with fond memories was about the role of storytelling with the purpose of deepening the brand-consumer connection. That inquiry project allowed me to understand why storytelling is critical to engage with the different audiences and enhance a strong and coherent identity. As a media practitioner and a storyteller, I am aware that the audience is looking for something meaningful, where they are able to find an association between their own beliefs and emotions.
